  • YES!!  Dry Needling is a technique targets only muscle (myofascial) trigger points using filament needles - same type of needles being used by acupuncturist.  Dry needling is a technique to be used for treating muscular pain and dysfunction only.  But acupuncture targets meridian points which based in traditional Chinese Medicine that works mainly with the energy flow of the body called the Chi.
     
    And the reason why It is called dry needling because it is derived from another technique which commonly being used in the hospital, in which they inject liquid substance (for e.g. cortisol) to trigger points through needle to treat muscular pain, which is so-called a "wet" method, whereas "Dry" needling is a method used on treating muscular pain without injecting any substance.
